New Cats

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Great Tree for a Clan meeting!!!" Rainstar yowled the familiar summon and she leaped into the tree.

The cats gathered under the tree, sitting in their groups. They murmured among themselves, watching Rainstar.

"Today, four cats have joined us. Hawkeye, Sparrowflight, Thunderstorm, and Lightningpaw."
"Hawkeye is a loyal and kind warrior. Treat her with respect."

"Hawkeye!! Hawkeye!! Hawkeye!!" the group chorused below.

The yowls died down as Rainstar continued.
"Sparrowflight and his mate Thunderstorm will be welcomed also. And Thunderstorm's apprentice Lightningpaw will not be forgotten. And Thunderstorm," Rainstar smiled at her best friend. "You will be my deputy. Serve this Clan well with your knowledge and kindness."

"Sparrowflight!! Thunderstorm!! Lightningpaw!!" yowled the assembled cats.

Lionpaw and Cloudpaw bounced up and down, then dashed over to Lightningpaw.
Ghostshadow silenced them with a look, but he smiled.

Prowlfang nodded approvingly, watching his mate intently.

Rainstar nodded.
"And I am expecting kits!! They should arrive in a few moons."
She gazed down at Prowlfang, who gave one of his rare smiles.

"That is all!!"
Rainstar leaped down from the tree and landed gracefully beside Prowlfang, padding to her den.
