Hey, Rainstar? I think Lightningpaw is ready to be a warrior. Do you think so?
ReplyDeleteRainstar flinched as her kits kicked harder than ever. A yowl escaped her throat.
ReplyDelete"Somebody!! My kits!!"
Snowpaw came racing inside, stopping at her Leader's side.
"I'll help."
The beautiful white she-cat put her paws on Rainstar's belly, feeling three tiny hearts.
"Three," she mewed.
The first kit, an orange one, slid out into the world.
Snowpaw nipped the kitting sack and set it by it's other's belly, just as the second came out. She licked it clean and put it down.
The last kit, smaller than the others, fell onto the nest. It's tiny mouth opened as it took in gulps of fresh air.
Snowpaw purred and put her with the others.
"Two toms and a she-cat." she purred proudly.
Rainstar nodded.
"Prowlfang?"
"Hunting. He'll be back soon." answered Snowpaw.
Rainstar nodded exhaustedly again.
"Tell Ghostshadow to make all the Apprentices into Warriors for me."
Snowpaw gave a little jump of joy, then padded out.
*Lightningstrike pads in, with Thunderstorm and Sparrowflight. They each stare lovingly at the kits. Thunderstorm and Sparrowflight nuzzle their leader, then leave to give her peace, while Lightningstrike stays and looks at the orange kit and wonders if he could mentor it.*

ReplyDeleteRainstar followed his gaze, then nodded.
"You may mentor Firekit." she said, then fell asleep.
Snowcloud stood over Rainstar and the kits, watching all sleep.
ReplyDeleteShe sighed and looked over at Lightningstrike, feeling a purr rise in her throat.
*pads in, herbs dangling from her jaws* Rainstar I brought you some borage. *drops next to rainstar and smiles at the kits*

"Thank you, Petalbreeze." Rainstar mewed, then sat up and chewed the herbs. She didn't mind the bitter taste.
ReplyDeleteProwlfang padded inside, a huge rabbit dangling from his jaws.
"I think this will be enough to fill you up" he meowed, setting it beside his mate.
The dark tortoiseshell she-cat nodded ,then took a bite, followed by Prowlfang.
They continued sharing the prey.

Firekit was now sitting on Petalbreeze's chest, holding her down with pride flowing off his in waves.

The two wrestled around the den, eventually tempting Jaykit to come and play, too.

ReplyDeleteFirekit leaped to his paws, followed by Mousekit. Jaykit got up more slowly, taking the time to stretch and yawn.
"What are we gonna play?" asked Mousekit.
Firekit shrugged, then yawned. "Clan?"
"Sure," said the brown tom kit.

Jaykit shrugged. "Medicine cat."
The tiny gray she-cat looked longingly outside at the Medicine Cat Den, watching Petalbreeze pad in and out.
Mousekit nudged her. "Welcome back to reality."
Jaykit narrowed her eyes at him.
"Lets play outside. Snowcloud can play, too."
Her big brothers nodded and they all padded outside, with Snowcloud, too.

Just then, Ghostshadow burst through the entance. His face was covered in dirt and tears.
"Rainstar, Prowlfang and Lionclaw were found slaughtered on the border."
Rainstar was on her paws in a split second.
"Which border? Oh, great StarClan has cursed us." she yowled, and her kits huddled together.
"On the side where no Clan is. The one with the mountains and the creepy dark forest." he answered quickly, looking over his shoulder.
Rainstar was shaking her head.
"Why didn't StarClan speak?" She sighed. Are the bodies back here?"
"Outside, ma'm." Ghostshadow meowed, still casting nervous glances over his shoulder.
"Good. Sorry Petalstar, for all this." They both padded outside.

"You're heavy, get off!!" Mousekit complained.
"Fine." meowed Firekit, stepping off his brother.
Rainstar sighed. "They need to be apprenticed."
Snakeclaw padded in and licked the back of Starlight's ear.
Rainstar looked up. "Oh, hello Snakeclaw."
"Hi Rainstar. I just came to ask what you wanted for tonights meal. I'm going hunting with Starlight."
Rainstar thought for a moment. "Anything is good, thank you Snakeclaw."
The black and white tom nodded, then waited for Starlight."
(Hmm... I'll make it so that six moons on here is only five weeks. Sound good?)
